Southern Maryland residents know all about Gilligan’s Pier and Captain Billy’s along the waterfront in Newburg, MD, but there’s a newcomer to the Newburg waterfront, and it’s located at the old Robertson’s Crab House location.
The new restaurant is called Popes Creek Waterfront, and they’re offering an interesting twist on seafood. Rather than try to compete against Captain Billy’s as a crab house, they’ve opted to choose a slightly more refined route, with an interesting menu, and an upscale feel. It’s a refreshing alternative, and the menu is inventive (trust me, try the Shrimp Grits!)
I’ve been a life long fan of Captain Billy’s, but Popes Creek Waterfront is tasty enough to keep me coming back for more. If you’ve been to Popes Creek already, let us know how you think i compares to Captain Billy’s in the comments below!
