Jazz’in it up on Friday Nights

I was looking for ideas on things to do around me, and I stumbled across the Jazz in the Garden Concert Series. Good music with great friends is always a good time! Plus it’s every Friday night from 5 P.M.- 8:30 P.M. until August 24th! I constantly try to come up with things to do that aren’t an everyday or every date night usuals. This could be a perfect fit for you and your significant other to get out of the “Norm” Dinner and movie night. I know I’ll be trying to “Jazz” up my Friday nights

Highlights of this year’s schedule include the 12th year of collaboration between Jazz in the Garden and the DC Jazz Festival with a performance by the Michael Thomas Quintet on June 15. Visitors can enjoy new additions to the outdoor grill menu—lemongrass chicken soft tacos, Argentinian sausage, and a southwest black bean BBQ burger—as well as to the Pavilion Café’s menu indoors—a horseradish roast beef sandwich, edamame noodle bowl, and citrus quinoa salad.

Here is the schedule for the entertainment:

June 8- The Slackers (ska, rock ‘n’ roll, and reggae) June 15- Michael Thomas Quintet (traditional jazz) In collaboration with the DC Jazz Festival June 22- Hendrik Meurkens Quartet (jazz harmonica and vibraphone) June 29- Josh Bayer Jazz (swing/bop) July 6- Black Masala (ethno-funk) July 13- The Funky Dawgz Brass Band (funk and hip-hop) July 20- Dave Chappell (blues guitar) July 27- Incendio (instrumental world guitar) August 3- Son Del Caribe (pan-Caribbean salsa) August 10- Andrea Brachfeld (jazz flutist) August 17- 3Divas (swing piano trio) August 24- Speakers of the House (funk and boogaloo).
