Day 221: College of Southern Maryland Jazz Festival, March 23rd-24th 2012 at 8pm

Enjoy the soothing tunes of jazz as you are whisked away to an easier time.

Jazz has been termed the music that can “calm the savage beast.”

With the company of high school and college students, members of the community and even professional musicians will play for your enjoyment.  The group practices every Monday during the school year to learn and rehearse, and performs throughout the year.

With such musicians present as: “Solid Brass” CSM’s very own Jazz Ensemble, the Charles County All-County Jazz Band, the “Animal Zoo: with Randy Runyon, and special guests such as The Grammy And Emmy nominated Trumpeter Greg Adams.

If interested the event also offers a teaching portion to those interested to study with Greg Adams from 9am-2pm on Friday March 23rd.  Admission is FREE for this Jazz Clinic.

Located in the CSM Fine Arts Center Theatre.

Beginning at 8pm on Friday March 23rd, the party will start with a Jazz Fusion Concert featuring the Animal Zoo.  Tickets can be purchased ahead of time for $5.00 per person, at the door tickets will be $7.00.

On Saturday, enjoy the sounds starting again at 8pm and listen to the Jazz Concert of all parties.  The event is sponsored by dbF, Charles County Public Schools and Comcast.

We’ve been given a chance to support the local arts, so sit back relax and enjoy the beautiful music as it calms your soul for just two nights!
