The Port Tobacco Alliance will host an open house and ghost walk to showcase the work of organizations in and around Port Tobacco from 2p.m. to 6p.m. Oct. 29, 2011 in the Port Tobacco Historic District on Chapel Point Road a quarter-mile south of Route 6 in Port Tobacco.
The event will include a Civil War encampment with re-enactors, an archaeology display, American Indian, Colonial and Civil War artifact identification, children’s activites and costumed interpreters. Bring artifacts for free identification by experts. At dusk there will be a ghost walk where visitors can experience the people and places of the historical village’s past. The event is free.
The Port Tobacco Alliance includes the Society for the Restoration of Port Tobacco, the Charles County Archaeological Society, Port Tobacco Archaeology Project, Port Tobacco River Conservancy, Thomas Stone National Historic Site, St. Ignatius Church and others.
