Day 66: 3rd Annual Calvert County Green Expo on April 9th, 2011

Going green has become the hip, trendy thing to do these days. From Gen Y crowd to the baby boomers, more and more people are looking for ways to protect the environment, reduce their carbon footprint, and help save the oceans/bay/whales/insert-adorable-animal-here.

Calvert County has been a shining example of how to help engage the community and promote eco-awareness, and one of the driving forces behind that has been the Calvert County Green Expo.

The next expo is planned for April 9th, 2011 at the College of Southern Maryland Prince Frederick Campus from 11am-4pm.  The event is going to include vendors, local produce, live demonstrations and speakers talking with the community about a wide variety of topics such as :

  • Lower our energy bills and reduce water usage
  • Find green products and services
  • Help reduce landfill requirements through easy recycling
  • and composting
  • Identify Maryland and Federal tax incentives and rebates
  • for weatherization projects, HVAC upgrades and
  • solar/wind/geothermal installations
  • And much, much more!

Best of all, the event is completely free!  If you’ve been to one of the expos in the past, please tell us what you thought about it and why you think other residents should attend!
