Earlier this month I braved the elements and participated in a 5k run at Our Lady Star of the Sea Church in Solomons, MD. It was cold, icy, challenging, and I had a great time with the friendly folks out there! If you missed the chance to try an organized run in the chilly weather, here’s your opportunity to make it up!
The Southern Maryland Community Network (SMCN) is holding a 5k on January 1st, 2011 in Prince Frederick, MD. SMCN is a non-profit organization that works towards enhancing the lives of individuals living with persistent severe mental illness in Southern Maryland, all proceeds go directly to the many services SMCN offers within the community. The race begins and ends at SMCN parking lot in Prince Frederick, Maryland.
If you’re interested in signing up, you can visit www.active.com, registration is $25, and the race starts at 9am. I’m planning on doing the Polar Bear Plunge that afternoon in North Beach, so I’m not certain if I will make it to the 5k, but I’m certainly going to try!
