I’ll be the first to admit that I’m not a great cook. I can grill a mean steak, but don’t ask me to make popcorn. I’ve always wanted to be a better cook, but I’ve been content to live vicariously through cookbooks and other people’s recipes. I decided to go looking for cooking classes in Southern Maryland and it turns out that I stumbled across a true gem for aspiring cooks!
Chef’s American Bistro is a restaurant located in California, MD, that is owned and operated by Chef Ahmed Koroma. It’s a great little place to eat, with an interesting menu and a fabulous wine list. They also hold cooking classes, led by Chef Ahmed himself.
The cooking classes are small affairs, hosted on alternating Saturdays from 1pm-4pm. The class is designed to teach you some of the techniques that Chef Ahmed uses himself to make a great meal, and the end result is a 3 course dinner, cooked by the participants with the Chef. The cost of the class is $49.95 per person, and you can schedule to take the class by calling the Bistro directly.
If you’ve taken his class in the past, we would love to hear about your experience! Let us know what you thought of it by leaving a comment below!
