Day 31: A Tuba Christmas in Solomons Island December 19th, 2010

If you haven’t been to a Tuba Christmas event before, you owe it to yourself to check one out.  Tuba Christmas is an event that happens across the country during the holiday season.  Essentially it’s a free concert of holiday music played by an all Tuba Orchestra.  not only is it completely free for the audience, but any tuba player is welcome to show up with their instrument and join the orchestra.

It’s a fun, bizarre event, complete with a holiday carol sing-along.  It’s a light-hearted event, and there’s nothing quite like seeing 200+ tuba players joining in for a rousing medley of Jingle Bells.


The ninth annual Solomons Tuba Christmas event will be at 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec 19, at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church on Alexander Lane in Solomons.
