I’m not what you would call an avid runner. Sure, I enjoy the occasional 5k, I’ve done the odd half marathon, but I’m not consistent about it. I got started by doing turkey trots, so I’m used to running in the cold, but a December 5k? I must be going crazy!
I’ll be honest: I don’t want to be the only person out there, freezing my butt off on a quick 5k course, so I expect to see you there! I’ve already checked the weather report: Mostly clear, temperatures anticipated to be 35-40 degrees. I’m not exactly thrilled about such a cold run, but it’s a great way to stay in shape, and it’s for a good cause.
Our Lady Star of the Sea School is holding this inaugural 5k as a school fundraiser. The course will wind through beautiful Solomons Island and surrounding neighborhood. A beautiful view of the Patuxent River and Chesapeake Bay will be enjoyed as you run/walk the course. A Post-Race Party will be held from 9:00am – 10:30 am. This will include food, refreshments, face-painting, and other activities. Packet Pick Up & Late Registration on December 18 from 7:00 to 8:15 AM at Our Lady Star of the Sea School. Registration is $@5, and you can sign up here.
The school will also be holding a Christmas Bazaar from 9am-2pm at the school, and more than 50 holiday vendors will be there, so it’s a perfect opportunity to stay fit, enjoy a great view of Solomons Island AND finish your Christmas shopping. It’s a win-win situation.
